Dokter Stella Swift is sedert haar tienerjare heimlik verlief op Arend Barnard, maar dit blyk dat hy so min moontlik met die rykmanskind te doen wil he. Jare later is Stella ‘n gekwalifiseerde algemene praktisyn en Arend is die narkotiseur wat steeds oorloop van ambisie. Sy wil op haar eie voete staan en so gou moontlik onafhanklik van die Swift-miljoene funksioneer. Maar dan tref die een na die ander terugslag haar gesin. Boonop glo haar jarelange vriend Tiaan dat hy en Stella bymekaar hoort. Daar is ook ‘n vasberade fisioterapeut wat haar oe en drome op Arend gevestig het. Het die noodlot net besluit die twee dokters se lewenspaaie mag nooit kruis nie, of kan hulle te midde van al die chaos en teleurstelling steeds vrede en geluk in mekaar se arms vind?
